Get Your Social Network Act Together - Part 1

Social Networking is the latest big buzz. The bandwagon is as crowded as a rush hour subway. Standing room only. Heck, even I'm on it. My problem lately has been wading through all the new sites and services being created at a rapid pace. It's easy to get sidetracked or overwhelmed by the abundance of opportunity, gadgets, gizmo's, software & services we keep bumping into. What do I do with all this info? How can I use these opportunities and avoid overwhelm? How do we get the most benefit with the least effort? Is there light at the end of this tunnel? … or an oncoming train?

This article is the first in a series that will examine new ways to integrate, consolidate or aggregate your social networking activities. The whole point being, to streamline and enhance the effectiveness and reach of your social network. I think we can use the latest technology and tactics to really get our social networking act together. Removing the confusion and circumventing the hype. . .

So let's explore, together, cutting edge applications and services that bring the world to you, and you to the world via powerful communication technology. Mastering new services, plugins and mini apps like friendfeed, twhirl & tweetdeck will help us maximize our social network reach and minimize the effort, and maybe most importantly to get organized. Let's see if we can organize and integrate, consolodate & aggragate ourselves to a simpler more effective social networking nirvana.

This will be a hands on approach. Together we'll go through a process that will really hook you up in a way you only dream of now. I will really appreciate your  input and participation! It will be geared to the intermediate to advanced level user who wants to use social networking tools to reach an audience in a particular niche or multiple niches. (Internet Entrepreneurs)You don't need to have a following yet. (But you soon will)

Social Network Mastery

Mastering social networking in our context means: 1. Hooking up with a targeted, interested group of people. 2. Getting into a position where they will listen to you, and staying there. 3. Integrating and streamlining the process to maximize effect and minimize effort. Summed up: Meaningful communication with a targeted group of interested contacts with a minimum of effort. That's the philosophy, now read on to learn how to do it.

Getting Ready

Before we get to the integration, consolidation / aggregation tools and steps, we need to get you set up with a couple power tools. Power tools are a necessity if you don't want to get bogged down in technological cul-de-sacs. Remember, the whole point is to make this quick & easy and get the job done in a real quality manner.

First we suggest using Roboform to fill out your sign up data in the many sites you will need to join. You don't need to spend time spinning your wheels with superfluous amounts of repetitive typing and form filling. You can download it here: Roboform for free for 60 days.

Second, in order to attain our goals, it would greatly help if you created a Wordpress blog on your own hosted website. You can still participate and make a big splash without it, but the effect will not be as powerful because you will be missing a couple powerful tools you can only use with Wordpress.

Shameless Plugs:
I use Hostgator for hosting & Semiologic to turn Wordpress into a Superblog.
